Coronavirus and the Effects

Coronavirus is the most trending topic all over the world. It already caused uproar to human being, since it is spread quickly and it is deadly. Nations over the world are terrified by the amount of people died due to the virus. Not to mention it is already spread to countries. The spread of coronavirus causes some inconvenient orders from the government.

The existence of Covid-19 in Indonesia is the cause of the closing of public places. It is for anticipating crowds which have high potential of the spread of the virus. The example of a public place is like a shopping center. Many shopping centers are closed due to Covid-19, for example, Plaza Indonesia, Grand Indonesia, PT Metropolitan Land Tbk, Summarecon Mall, etc. Not only shopping center, but also tourist sites that are closed to prevent the spread of the virus. The government of DKI Jakarta has closed at least 21 sites, for example, Ancol. Sadly, the government of East Java has not done that kind of prevention. But still, they  warn people to be careful, make sure people stay clean, give wastafel facility, and give masks for citizens. Not only that, Khofifah, governor of East Java told the organizer of the stores and public places to do thermal tests to test the temperature of the visitor. Also, stores in Surabaya have limited open time. Of course this policy can obstruct daily activities.

The other effect than the closing of public places is the policy of work from home and study from home. Based on the letter of the Governor of East Java, the period of work from home for teachers is extended. Before, it would end on April 21st 2020, but now it is extended until June 1st 2020 and teachers can work in office again on June 2nd 2020. Students will also go back to school on June 2nd 2020. With this kind of policy, students are demanded to study virtually which actually has a lot of obstacles. One of the obstacles are obvious, the internet and signals. Both students and teachers or lecturers need a good internet provider which means they need to pay extra for internet. This causes many people complain about the policy. However, it is still the best way to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Last but not least, self quarantine and physical distancing. The president of Indonesia, Jokowi, appeals citizen to stay calm, and keep being productive while doing physical distancing. He also emphasizes the importance of self quarantine. People need to stay at home and isolate themselves to make sure they neither got infected nor infect the other. This is the most effective way to prevent Corona. He said that people need to work from home, study from home, and do religion service at home. Not only that, people also need to put some space in one another if they really need to go out. Not to mention that some people still go out either for important business or only for trivial business like go for a walk. This policy needs acts both from the government and citizen. If the government has done their best and citizen still against the policy, then the condition will not get any better.

All in all those policies from the government are inconvenient for people, but they are also the ways to stop the spread of Coronavirus. People need to work together with the government by staying at home, doing physical distancing, work and study from home, and not rebeling those policies.
